Resource Center for the Teaching of French, Yale

The collection of feature films and documentaries (DVDs and VCRs) has grown consequently. Don't forget the video clips on French and Francophone music, the numerous newspapers and magazines for children, and much more. All this material is available on free loan!

The on-line section is also changing regularly, with links on various topics. Website

The Resource Center is open on weekdays from 2.00pm through 6.00pm. We would suggest that you make an appointment with the director before you go, as she might sometimes be out for a meeting or a school visit: sharon.straka@yale.edu or (203) 436-4344.

Sharon StrakaSharon Straka, long-time member of the Alliance Française of Hartford and a former teacher of French at Glastonbury High School, is the new Director of the Resource Center for the Teaching of French at Yale University. The center is a collaboration of Yale with the State Department of Education and the Services Culturels of the French Embassy. The Resource Center, in addition to providing resources such books, magazines, newspapers, videos, DVDs and more, offers French teachers programs, workshops and other opportunities to get together and talk about various topics of interest and concern. Another project for this year is to encourage French teachers to share lesson plans. To take advantage of all that the Resource Center for the Teaching of French has to offer, French teachers should contact Sharon at sharon.straka@yale.edu to have their names added to the mailing list. Information is also available at the Center website: www.yale.edu/macmillian/pier/rctf.
