Meet the teachers, learn all about our summer classes and register.

The Alliance Française de Hartford offers all levels of classes providing continuity for a solid knowledge of standard French. It is a unique opportunity to experience the language and culture of the francophone world in an informal, supportive learning environment.

The emphasis is on oral proficiency and self-expression built upon a solid foundation of French grammatical principles. Teachers are native speakers holding diplomas from universities in French-speaking countries or anglophones with minimum of masters degrees in French from accredited American universities. All our language classes offer an immersion experience in the French language; they are taught in French using the “direct method.” Students are encouraged to express themselves in French. Grammar is a tool, not a goal.

Classes are usually limited to eight students; extra courses are normally added in case of larger enrollments.
